How IT ALL Began

You’ll never forget TEAKWOOD Noble Rum by the John-Henry Rum Co. – found only in Chicago.

My ancestors, my great-grandfather John and his son Henry, were true American entrepreneurs.  Inspired by John’s vision, they entered the distilling business and created a unique rum recipe for their Chicago distillery in the late 1910s – a time when the city was roaring with life, growing fast toward a population of 2.7 million, and moving to the rhythm of ragtime music.

When the Prohibition Act of 1920 banned the manufacture, sale, and distribution of alcoholic beverages, they chose to close their distillery and pursue other entrepreneurial ventures.

 

Decades later, those coveted recipes were passed down through generations of our family and eventually, to me.

Now, one century later, it’s time to revive this secret recipe.

My father’s deep knowledge of distilling, his stories about our grandfathers, and his relentless drive inspired me – to the point of obsession – to create something so profound that others would recognize and appreciate it too.
