How IT ALL Began

You’ll never forget TEAKWOOD Rum by the John-Henry Rum Co. Found only in Chicago.

My ancestors, great grandfather John and his son Henry, were true American entrepreneurs. Inspired by John, they went into distilling business and created a unique rum recipe for their distillery in the Chicago market in the late 1910s.  Time in history, when Chicago was a roaring, fast-growing city approaching a population of 2.7 million …and the time of ragtime music.

Then, when The Prohibition Act of 1920 banned the manufacture, sale, and distribution of alcoholic beverages, they decided to close their business and followed other entrepreneurial endeavors.

 

Yet, years ago, those coveted recipes passed down through our family’s generations to me. 

​

Now, it’s time to revive this secret recipe...one century later.

​

My Dad’s passed down knowledge about distilling, his family stories about grandpas and his relentless energy made me inspired to the point of being obsessed about creating something so profound that others would recognize and appreciate it, too.

​

If it weren’t for my passion to share TEAKWOOD Noble Rum with you, Chicago truly would be missing out on exquisite flavor that captures that distinct Chicago Style – “A Blend of Defined Character and Sublime Style” that TEAKWOOD Nobel Rum reflects so well.

We, at the John-Henry Rum Co., handcraft our rum in small batches, infused and aged in French oak with only the finest natural, organic ingredients, to create an uncommon palate and aroma.
